1 in 3 women (and 1 in 4 men) have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner (NCADV, 2010). Moreover, at least 50% of Americans reported experiencing lifetime emotional abuse by a family member (Karakurt and Silver, 2013).
When our environments are dangerous or out of our control, our imaginations shelter us by providing new realities where we are safe from oppression and free to live as our best selves.
Loverly has been curated with artifacts gathered from Huntsville, AL that represent an abstract interpretation of ‘shelter.’ Designed to be interactive with the viewer, Loverly moves beyond the imagination and becomes a shared moment of connection in a community space.
